Curated by Valérie Mazouin, director of the Centre d?art contemporain labellisé Chapelle Saint-Jacques, Saint-Gaudens (31), the exhibition Bonjour! brings together nearly a hundred of the artist?s works, as well as a previously unseen collection of works produced in situ.
Born in 1974, Valérie du Chéné lives in Coustouge (Aude) and teaches at the Institut Supérieur des Arts de Toulouse. Trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she has since developed her practice around painting, installation, volume and drawing, tackling subjects such as color, the relationship with the other and spatiality
spatiality.
The works on show feature a wide range of settings, reflecting Valérie du Chéné?s ongoing commitment to observation and fiction. Paintings and murals,
films, drawings and cartoons, abundantly nourished by architecture, language and play, will be organized in a precise circulation necessary to the understanding of these ensembles. The reading of the project will be amplified by artists from the 13th to the 21st century, from several national collections, who will enter into conversation with the work of Valérie du Chéné, offering a testimony to these different artistic influences. The exhibition will unfold across the region through a rich program of workshops and artistic interventions.
