9:15 PM: MUSICAL THEATER PERFORMANCE: PINK
Pink is the color pink. An ambiguous color. The triumphant bastard of red. Long known as “incarnate,” the color of flesh. A fragile and ephemeral color. The color of warriors, of honor. In Japan, it is the color of the samurai. In India, it is the color of wisdom. In the West, it is the color of tenderness, femininity, and gentleness. But this pink, in the form of a triangle of fabric, evokes a dark era in our history: the deportation of homosexuals by the Nazis. We’ll delve into the extraordinary story of Pierre Seel, a deportee and prominent gay rights activist, and discover the incredible journey of Zig and Puce, a lesbian couple, who were deported as resistance fighters and survived the death marches. Wonderful individuals who were persecuted, whose stories have long been ignored, erased from official commemorations, absent from school textbooks, and invisible in museums of remembrance. To name is to acknowledge, and to acknowledge is to refuse to let it happen again. A duty to remember. For the 6th edition of the Plus Petit Festival du Monde, a group of local amateur singer-actors will join the production to tell this story.
