The bridge dates from the end of the 18th century. It was built in order to transport convoys of coal (hard coal, lignite) from Graissessac to the royal glassworks of Hérépian. It has the peculiarity of being built on a slope, due to the difference in levels between the two banks of the Mare. Nevertheless, it has a donkey back profile resting on two arches.
The bridge has been listed as a historic monument since 27 May 1936.
